Open Burn Permits

Burn Permitting

The Linn County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution requiring a fee for burning permits. Permits that are valid for 30 days will be assessed a $10.00 fee. Annual Permits will be assessed a $25.00 fee. When you receive your permit an invoice will be attached to the bottom of the form. Please return the invoice with your payment. Additional permits will not be issued if payment is not received for this permit. If you want to receive a confirmation please provide a valid email address.

It may take up to a week or more to process the application, and permits for "clearing and grubbing," "agricultural structures," and "prairie grass" burns may require additional inspections, 1/4 mile signature forms, and prescribed burn plans.

A portion of the fee will be sent to your fire district.
